Welcome to The Colour of Tears. This is a site to share my poetry. For those who don't know or remember, when I was in elementary school, I wanted to become a writer when I grew up (my email, AIM, and Neopets username was "famousauthor"). I spent most of my time reading (because imitation=flattery, or something), writing both fiction and nonfiction, and submitting all of it to competitions. I won a few, lost a ton, and have never finished a NaNoWriMo despite trying for years.

Once I got to college and started working as an adult, all of this went to the wayside. I had been planning to publish The Colour of Tears as a hardcopy book, but that got shoved away in the depths of my "future projects" list... and hasn't seen the light of day in a decade. I'm not proud of that. I want to bring back the childhood wonder of penning prose. I want to let 12-year-old Vivian finally get her moment in the spotlight. I want her to cry happy tears that her poetry is finally 'published', available to more people than she could have ever imagined.

The title comes from a song by (now disbanded) Japanese pop group °C-ute, titled 涙の⾊:

I can't forgive you for the day that you hurt my pride.
Tears, memories, tears... I'm not sad at all.
This is the goodbye to the you that I loved so much.

I'll let 2008 Synocure continue explaining... "Above all, the title is extremely poignant: to the naked eye, tears are clear. They have no colour. Yet if you look beyond their physical appearance, tears are extremely colourful - they're coloured with passion, with sadness, with relief, with frustration, with heartbreak. Behind every transparent droplet is a complicated story. Through my anthology, I hope to shed some light on the colours of my own tears."
